Getting started

AutoPage helps you to automate page creation in Confluence with rules you can define in Jira. You just need to define a page template in Confluence with placeholders for Jira issue content and you are ready to get a fully automated Documentation from the work that is done by your teams in Jira in a structured and consistent look and feel.

AutoPage allows you to automatically create entire page hierarchies in your Confluence space directly from Jira. The details from your Jira activity will automatically appear on the generated Confluence page without any further effort.

Before you start configuring AutoPage, ensure the following requirements are met.

To use AutoPage, you need to set up an application link between Jira and Confluence. If there are multiple Confluence application links in Jira, AutoPage uses the primary Confluence application link.

  • We recommend that you configure the application link to use “OAuth with impersonation”. In this case, users do not have to be logged into Confluence to generate a page via AutoPage.
  • When using “OAuth authentication”, you must ensure that the user is logged in to Confluence before generating or updating a Confluence page using AutoPage.

To check if the application link is correctly set up:

  1. Go to “Confluence Page” and select “search for a page”.
  2. If your search for a Confluence page is successful, the application link is set up correctly.

AutoPage creates Confluence pages as the Jira user who is currently editing the issue.

  • The user must have access to the space where the Confluence page will be created.
  • They also need permission to create pages.
  • The Confluence template which is used to generate a Confluence page, must be located in a space where the user has read access.
  • You can restrict template editing using page restrictions. The page restrictions must not restrict visibility for the user.

An installation of Jira Software is needed for the use of AutoPage.

  1. Create a Confluence Template
  2. Create a Rule in AutoPage

Automated Page Creation

Support your documentation processes and start creating Confluence pages automatically from Jira.

Rules

Define which and how Jira issues should be added to a Confluence page; AutoPage will do the rest for you. JQL is supported and helps you simplify the configuration quickly and easily.

Templates

Maintain a consistent look and feel by creating templates with predefined page structures.

Placeholders

Stop updating your Confluence page manually and use dynamic placeholders which can be filled with your Jira data.

Macros

Forget static macro content and start adding dynamic values to your favorite Confluence macros.

Audit Log

See an overview of the operations performed by AutoPage on the right-hand side of your Jira issue. For administrators, an Audit Log is available in the administration area to track every operation, pages created, and manipulated by AutoPage, and to spot potential errors at a glance.

Manual Text Edit

You can add your own content to the generated Confluence page.
